Frequently Asked Questions

What special equipment do I need to play these programs?

None. Any off the shelf DVD player will play these programs, as well as most computers with a DVD drive and appropriate software. The price of DVD players has dropped dramatically in recent years making them affordable for ANY program.

How are the support materials provided?

The discs can be used with Smart Boards or in Learning Labs, so most school districts consider the programs software, and Technology and Library funds are often used to purchase the programs.

All material is sent in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file format, which allows you to display and print them from a MAC or PC computer using Adobe® Acrobat Reader software. You can download the software FREE at www.adobe.com.

I teach in a small school with a very small budget. What would be my benefit from these programs? Are these programs designed to target only the "high end" schools?

Nothing could be farther from the truth! The Practical Technical Theater series is targeted to all programs, including those that have limited physical facilities. It will allow teachers to expose their students to other working theaters and professionals that some might have to travel hours for!

What if I need more workbooks?

When a school purchases a program, the individual school gets a Single School Site License to use and reproduce all the support materials on the CD-ROM. So, there's never any need to purchase workbooks.

My strong subject in the area of theater is acting. How can I benefit from these more "technically oriented" topics?

Congratulations! These programs were produced for you! We understand that the expense of having staff-specialists in all areas (technical, dance, etc..) is just more than many school systems can support. That is why the 60+ years of teaching experience at the secondary level the developers bring to this project is so valuable!

I have a community theater group that relies a great deal on volunteer help. Are these programs produced at too young of an educational level for us to get something out if them as well?

In addition to secondary education, the Practical Technical Theater series is designed to help any theater group with a genuine interest in upgrading their production values.

What is our disc replacement policy?

  1. A DISC IS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT: If you get a new program, and a disc is damaged in transit, return the disc and we'll replace it for free.
  2. A DISC GETS DAMAGED AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN USING THE DISC: If you have a disc that you have been using, and a disc gets damaged beyond repair, send the damaged disc back to us and we'll send a replacement disc back for $50.00, shipping included. We have to break open a new program to get a replacement disc.
  3. LOST OR MISPLACED DISCS: If you lose or misplace a disc, we can't take responsibility for the lost disc. If a textbook is lost book publishers won't replace that book for free. We have the same policy.

Scholarship Information

Bob and Marti Fowler have established 2 scholarships for high school seniors who want to become theater teachers. They feel very fortunate to have been able to work with the hardest working, most talented, intelligent students in their schools for over 30 years each, and want to give some help to students who choose that same fulfilling path. The scholarships are:

"The Bob and Marti Fowler Missouri Thespian Future Theater Educator Scholarship"
This is awarded at the MO Thespian Festival in January. It is for $1,000.00 for a high school senior going into theater education. Application/Intervews are through MO Thespians, and need to be directed to the State Director. Bob and Marti were sponsors of MO Thespians Troupes all their careers, and Marti served on the MO Thespian State Board for 12 years.

"The Bob and Marti Fowler Future Theatre Educator's Scholarship"
This will be announced at ITS in Lincoln, NE, but the scholarship winner does not have to be present in Lincoln to win the scholarship. It is for $1,500.00, and interested students can contact Diane Carr at dcarr@edta.org. for applications and details.
